A new dove on the trail

SWAN LAKE, NY — The Sullivan Catskills Visitors Association (SCVA) has added a new dove sculpture to the county’s Dove Art Trail.

The new artwork, painted by local artist Keith Phillips, can be seen at the Domes at Catskills in Swan Lake.

The trail now features 71 unique dove sculptures, each hand-painted by a professional local artist.

The Dove Art Trail was first launched in 2019 as part of SCVA’s effort to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Woodstock festival in Bethel. The trail highlights the county’s cultural significance and its artistic community.

Since its launch, the Dove Art Trail has become a popular attraction for visitors, an SCVA spokesperson said. Doves can be found in towns, villages and hamlets, as well as in local businesses. “Each dove represents the unique character and charm of the communities in Sullivan Catskills,” the spokesperson said.

Phillips is known for his artistic talent and has created several doves for the trail.

The Domes at Catskills, a glamping resort owned by Jerry Feeney, is set to open in late spring. It offers “a unique glamping experience with decor sourced from all over the world,” the spokesperson said. The visitors can stay in domes in the woods of Swan Lake.

Glamping combines the luxury and comfort of a hotel stay with the natural setting and outdoor activities of camping, the SCVA added. Glamping has been growing in popularity over the years and offers a unique way for travelers to connect with nature without sacrificing modern comforts.
