Statement from Robin Skibber on Olsommer’s refusal to debate:
I’m disappointed Mr. Olsommer would not meet with the members of the League of Women Voters and interested members of the public. Running for office means one must be accountable to the voters.
At a time when families are struggling with basic needs, when reproductive rights and the integrity of our democracy are under attack, it is shocking that a candidate for office won’t meet with voters.
This sends a clear message, especially to women voters. Olsommer doesn’t care to hear your stories and isn’t interested in your vote.
I was born and raised in Pike County; I went to our public schools and raised my family here. This, plus my experience serving our communities while leading the Pike County Area Agency on Aging for 22 years, means I understand what women and families are struggling with in the 139th District, and I know what the solutions are: access to affordable housing, access to healthcare and a state representative who will take the time to meet with people in the district.
