JEFFERSONVILLE, NY -- Sullivan West Central School ended what it's calling its "lock out" at noon on Monday.
The school posted an emergency message on its website that morning: "Sullivan West Central School is in a lockout due to the close proximity of a robbery in Livingston Manor. This means no one can enter or exit the district at this time. We will keep you updated."
The school canceled junior varsity sports and all elementary school clubs, except for latchkey, after school resource officer Jason Beebe received word at 9:30 a.m. of a robbery in progress in Livingston Manor. The school sent parents an emergency text message with information about the lock out.
The district had security patrols inside and outside the school, and law enforcement officers closely supervised all arrivals and dismissals of students and staff members throughout the day.
The police are reporting two armed robberies on different days in Livingston Manor.
Last month, Steven Kelly, 37, of Narrowsburg, the parent of a student at the school, was arrested after threatening the district in his social media posts.
Please check back for updates.
