Sullivan County seeks new attorney

SULLIVAN COUNTY, NY—The Sullivan County Legislature is looking for a new county attorney, according to its Facebook page.

The full-time position pays from $150,000 to $170,000 a year.

The county attorney for the past four years, Michael McGuire, was appointed by the current legislature chair, Robert Doherty.

“I have cherished and enjoyed every moment I have worked for Sullivan County,” McGuire said. “This county is very fortunate to have some tremendous human assets, and I thank each one of them—including the legislature—for the opportunity to serve the county I call home.”

He noted that the term of the county attorney coincides with the four-year term of each legislature, then added, “I hope to be reappointed to that position by legislators during their reorganizational meeting in January.”

The county Facebook page shows applications are open. The new legislature is expected to make its decision in January. All but one Republican legislative seat flipped to the Democrats in last month’s election.

The position is posted on Indeed: https://tinyurl.com/mscu7ata.
