MONTICELLO, NY -- The Village of Monticello Police on August 9 arrested Jahriek Tomlinson, 22, of Monticello, NY,  and charged him with 2nd-degree criminal possession of a weapon and 1st-degree reckless endangerment, both felonies.

Tomlinson was arrested following an investigation into a shots-fired incident that happened at 6:17 p.m. on July 30 at the Monticello Housing Authority Apartment complex on Evergreen Drive.

Police say Tomlinson, while occupying a vehicle, did knowingly and recklessly shoot from a 9MM handgun, across a courtyard of the housing complex. Multiple children were also playing in the courtyard when the incident occurred.

Tomlinson was arraigned in village justice court before Justice Douglas
Solomon. He was remanded to the Sullivan County Jail on $50,000 cash bail, $100,000 bail bond, or $200,000 insurance bond.

Lt. Mark Johnstone, Village of Monticello Police Department said the department was assisted by the Sullivan County District Attorney's Office, the Village of Liberty Police, NYS Police BCI and VGNET.

The filing of an accusatory instrument is merely an accusation and every person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
