LOCH SHELDRAKE, NY — Sullivan 180 is partnering with the Catskill Hospitality Institute to offer a new course at SUNY Sullivan during the fall 2023 semester.

The course, titled Creating and Activating Public Spaces, will introduce students to the importance of public spaces for community health and wellness; explain careers and opportunities associated with creating and caring for public spaces, facilities and grounds, parks and Main Streets; and give an understanding of the effort to engage citizens in placemaking and creating public spaces.

Placemaking is an approach to planning, designing and managing public spaces with the intention of using a community’s assets, inspiration and potential to create public spaces that improve community vitality and promote health and wellness.
HUM 1350: Creating and Activating Public Spaces, is running this fall on Fridays from 10 a.m. to 12:50 p.m.
