Law would help small businesses accommodate workers with disabilities

LEEDS, NY — The Think DIFFERENTLY About Disability Employment Act passed the U.S. House of Representatives with bipartisan support.

The bill is sponsored by U.S. Rep. Marc Molinaro (R, NY-19) and U.S. Rep. Chris Pappas (D, NH-1).

The bill establishes a collaboration between the National Council on Disability and the Small Business Administration (SBA). Its purpose is to help small businesses address accessibility challenges for employees with disabilities, and to promote the hiring of people in the disability community while also supporting disabled entrepreneurs.

Molinaro’s Think DIFFERENTLY campaign aims to dismantle barriers and create pathways for the disability community.

“Every person, regardless of ability, deserves opportunities to thrive and pursue their passions,” Molinaro said. “This legislation ensures that individuals with physical, intellectual, and developmental disabilities have the necessary support and resources to either launch their own entrepreneurial ventures or contribute to small businesses.”
