Summertime is so busy, with lots to do. On Thursday I was in Pete’s Market and I ran into Jill Padua, who cooks at the Forestburgh Playhouse. Jill told me about the play that was showing, “Million Dollar Quartet.” I called Pastor Phyllis, and we made a night out of it. The show was about Sun Studio with Sam Phillips, Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Cark Perkins, and Jerry Lee Lewis—who was a crazy nut, but boy, can he play the piano. I loved the show so much I went back on Sunday with my brother Teddy and his girlfriend. It is running through July 1, and it’s a must see: you will be dancing in your seat.

On July 3 from 6 to 7 p.m., the Cochecton Youth Commission will hold signups for upcoming events in the Cocheton Town Hall, lower level. The next event will be “Seussical the Musical” on July 14 at 11 a.m. at the Forestburgh Playhouse. Call Michelle Steich with any questions, 570/419-8801. A visit to Claws & Paws Wild animal park in Lake Ariel, PA will occur on August 4. Events are free for Cochecton youth; for others, money is due at signup. Prices are $16 for adults (age 12 and up), $12 for juniors (age two to 11) and $15 for seniors (65 and up). For more information contact Kristina Snedeker 845/807-8003.

On July 14, from 3 to 6 p.m., the Lake Huntington Fire Co. will hold its annual chicken barbeque. The cost of $11 per dinner includes chicken, potato salad, baked beans, cranberry sauce, roll and butter, and dessert. See a fireman for tickets or call 845/932-8514 or 932-8444. Eat in or take out.

The H. Russell Kenyon VFW #5808 auxiliary will have a yard/bake sale at the former Fosterdale Grange Hall in Fosterdale, NY, on Route 17B on July 7 and 8 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. If you are interested in being a  auxiliary member of our post, call Peggy Grund at 845/252-3530 for more information. The next meeting will be in September.

Please keep the family of Henry Hudson (Hank), the former owner of the Ruff Cut, in your prayers. Hank was a member of Marines Catskill Detchment 652; he will be missed by all his follow Marines. If you would like to pay your last respects, there will be a viewing at Kauneonga Funeral Parlor on June 28 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. On June 29, there will be a 10 a.m. burial at Sullivan County Vets Cemetery.  Semper fi.

Keep smiling and have a great week. Email leenie beans@citlink.net or call 845-252-3568 if you have news.
