We the residents of Sullivan County encouraged the building and maintenance of the facility.
The reason we the people of Sullivan County did that was to provide a place where our elders could continue to live near us when they could no longer live at home.
Many residents of this county are unable to travel a distance to visit with our loved ones.
Yes, the facility is a cost to the county. Fire departments are also a cost, but we recognize that fire departments are a need!
Outside management would probably cut corners to reduce the costs but what would be in jeopardy?
We need a place in Sullivan County for our elders. Our elders need family visits. That is one of the things that make us human!
Selling the facility or putting it in the hands of Big Business puts us all in jeopardy.
Hopefully we might never need to use the facility ourselves, but like the fire departments—we might. Once given away, getting it back will be very difficult. Let’s not be shortsighted.
