LIVINGSTON MANOR, NY — The Livingston Manor/Roscoe girls’ varsity soccer squad had a pretty good season—they wrapped up the year as undefeated OCIAA Division 6 Champions, picked up the Section IX Class D crown, and made it to the New York State Regional Championships.

On November 1, Manor/Roscoe traveled to Mechanicsville to face Fort Ann in the New York State Regional Championship game, which they lost, 4-0.
In blanking the Lady Wildcats, the Lady Cardinals of Fort Ann scored 4 unanswered goals: Olivia Winchell scored on an early game PK, followed by Savannah Aratare, Lillian Trzasko and Aratare to end the match.
Manor/Roscoe’s goalie Cox was credited with 16 saves, while the team had 8 shots on goal. The Lady Cardinals’ keeper posted 7 saves, and the team fired 20 shots on goal.
The Manor/Roscoe varsity girls soccer squad (10-7) this year was composed of players from both high schools: Isabella Francisco (RCS), Hailey Sheehan (RCS), Micelle McKinley (LMCS), Zaylee Cox (RCS), Anastasia Niforatos (RCS), Alexandra Potosek (LMCS), Sarah Gorr (RCS), Julia Meola (RCS), Kaelyn Perry (LMCS), Athena Niforatos (RCS), Ciarra Staudt (LMCS), Emily Froehlich (LMCS), Kelsey Ryder (RCS), Jewel Wright (LMCS), Allison Froehlich (LMCS), Alivia Garcia (LMCS), Skyler DeWitt (LMCS), Leah Ladenhauf (RCS), Gianna Dutcher (LMCS), Sarah Evans (LMCS) and Rebecca Gashinsky (RCS).
Seniors: Francisco, Sheehan, Cox (captain), Gorr (captain), Athena Niforatos (captain) and Evans.
Four juniors are scheduled to return to the squad next year as upperclassmen: McKinley, Staudt, DeWitt and Gashinsky.
Maggi Fitzpatrick, coach of the merged girls’ varsity soccer team, said of the season, “I’m very proud of my team for how hard they worked this season long, and for making it to the New York State tournament.”
Reflecting on the loss to Fort Ann, she said, “We made some adjustments at halftime that allowed us to gain some more offensive momentum in the second half, but unfortunately we weren’t able to commit enough numbers forward to score. Fort Ann played the better game against us tonight and deserved to win.”
Looking into her crystal ball for a glimpse of what the future might hold, Coach Fitzpatrick said, “I’m looking forward to continue to build this team next season and our ability to compete outside of our section.”
