The Outside Institute offers a guided nature walk.
Join Laura Silverman, Founding Naturalist of The Outside Institute, for a stroll among the wild and cultivated landscapes of Governors Island. We’re thrilled to be offering this walk in conjunction with Portal: Governors Island, an art fair taking place on the island every weekend in September. In addition to learning about native and immigrant plants—including their edible and medicinal properties—we hope to see some fungi. If we do, those who would like to return to the studio after can stay for an additional half-hour and enjoy a spore-printing tutorial with painter and naturalist Lori Nelson. Event is limited to 15 people.
Location: Governors Island - just a ferry ride from Manhattan or Brooklyn. Details will be emailed to participants.
Of note: Foraging bag and trail snack are included. We recommend you bring sunscreen/hat, bug repellent and water bottle, as well as a notebook/pen to record your discoveries.
There is a second walk scheduled in this location on 9.29.19
