Fun and pride on July 4 in Narrowsburg

Is it just me, or each year does there seem to be confusion about the Fourth of July celebration? Is it on July 4, or the weekend before or after?

Good news! This year, the Fourth of July celebration is ON Tuesday, July 4, just as the founding fathers intended. What could be better? Sparklers for everyone!

Last year’s celebration was an enormous success, attended by over 3,000 people. Thanks to the tireless volunteers of the Narrowsburg Chamber of Commerce and the Tusten Youth Commission, things this year are bigger and better than ever. There’s quite a party planned. Read below for more details and start planning your Independence Day fun.

The day starts with the Narrowsburg Fireman’s Parade at 3 p.m. on Main Street. Fire trucks, emergency vehicles and civic pride will be on full display. Rumor has it that candy might even be distributed by some of the organizations. Sirens and a good time guaranteed.

The free event on Fireman’s Field in Narrowsburg begins at 3:30 p.m. and will go on until dark, approximately 8:30 p.m. As is true of our great nation, there is something for everyone. Highlights include:

Live music from Poison Love Band + Stephen Clair.

More food and beverage options than ever before. As of this writing, 18 refreshment vendors will be participating.

Fifteen vendors will be selling local and handmade goods.

You’re saying your kid—or your inner kid—is hoping for rides and amusements. We’ve got them! Expected highlights include two waterslides, a massive stunt jump attraction, royal racers, laser tag, an obstacle course, the requisite bounce house and basketball games.

Of course, kids hope to see their teachers at these events, and they will—in an over-18 dunk tank! For a cost of $5 per dunk, kids can make parents, teachers and other community leaders sweat each throw, wondering if the target will be hit.

Merchandise vendor spots are still available. Sponsors are still welcome. Interested parties should visit www.welcometonarrowsburg.com/fourth-of-july.

As is always true with community programs, donations are appreciated. All proceeds go to Tusten Youth and the Narrowsburg Chamber of Commerce to fund this year’s July 4 Celebration—any surplus will go into a designated account to fund next year’s event. To donate via GoFundMe, use this link: www.gofund.me/e2f51055.

Thanks to all our veterans, first-responders and community leaders whose hard work helps ensure fun and pride for 247 years and counting.
