The Town of Liberty Town Council has three candidates but only two open seats. Simmie Williams III is running on the Democratic ticket against Vincent J. McPhillips and Dean R. Farrand, who are both running on the Republican and Conservative ticket.
My name is Simmie Williams III, and I am a new resident in the Village of Liberty and a lifelong resident of Sullivan County.
I am running for Liberty Town Council because I believe my journey has left an indelible mark in the communities I’ve lived and worked in. I believe that my 32 years in law enforcement paved the way for greater diversity and inclusion in law enforcement. Serving on various boards of education in the County reflects the passion I have for nurturing the next generation and ensuring their success. Being engaged in various facets of community service and volunteering for several organizations gives me a unique perspective on all the issues that several Towns face today.
Throughout my life, I have always believed in family, faith and fairness. My commitment to public safety and unwavering dedication to serving and protecting my fellow residents has earned the respect and admiration of many.
I proudly practice my faith as Deacon at the First Baptist Church of South Fallsburg, where my spiritual leadership and involvement in the Church community highlight my commitment to good, which serves as the foundation of who I am. If elected I will continue to inspire positive change.
Vincent J. McPhillips (R)(C)
Dean R. Farrand (R)(C)
