And just like that, it’s the final week prior to the start of school for the 2024-25 year. The Sullivan West School District has a brand new website, so be sure to check it out for all the events and happenings for school-related activities.

Here are some events that are happening soon in our community and surrounding areas.

The Sullivan County Long Beards-NWTF is holding its annual Jakes Event on September 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Roscoe Rockland Fireman’s Field. This event is for people aged 17 and under. Some of the tentative programs are modified 3D archery, duck retrieval, birdhouse building, a birds of prey demonstration, fishing and cider making. Buck Brook Alpacas could be there. For more information, call 845/292-4325.

The Lake Huntington Lake Association 2024 Gala is coming up on Saturday, September 7. Tickets will be available soon.

One of the highlights of this event has been the video showcasing our neighbors and their families as they share what they love about the lake and their favorite memories. They’ll express their gratitude. If you’d like to send in a clip (no longer than two minutes), email it to JodiSibilia@gmail.com for inclusion in the video for this year’s gala.

The Delaware Youth Center Holiday Craft Fair is now accepting vendor applications. The date of the event is Friday, November 29 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Space reservations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Vendors are responsible for cleaning their table space after the sale. To reserve your table, visit delawareyouthcenter.org, fill out the form and pay the $40 vendor fee by Monday, October 14. No refunds will be issued after November 1. Only ONE table per vendor, unless otherwise approved by the event coordinator. If you have any questions, email craftfair@delawareyouthcenter.org

Tickets are available now for the 12th annual Ride to Survive Dinner Dance at the Club at Villa Roma on Saturday, October 26 starting at 5:30 p.m. Contact a board member for tickets. A list of board members can be found at www.ride2survivesullivancounty.org/our-founders/board-members

Save the date: A Single Bite + Catskill Food Hub’s fourth annual golf tournament will be held on Thursday, September 12 at the Roscoe Mountain Club. Sign up your foursome or learn more about sponsorship opportunities at www.asinglebite.org/golf-event-2024
