Bushkill responders fight house fire

BUSHKILL, PA — Firefighters battled a fierce blaze that consumed a Mallard Lane house in Lehman Township on Sunday.

The Bushkill Volunteer Fire Company raced to the scene at 2:50 p.m. on  March 17 to find a fully involved fire that put two other structures in jeopardy. The blaze was quickly upgraded to a second-alarm fire—which means additional units needed to be called in—with third-alarm tankers, which tripled resources.

Strong wind gusts spread the fires to several other wooded spots nearby, making a second-alarm brush assignment necessary. Numerous fire engines and tankers were deployed to the site.

No injuries were reported.

A Pennsylvania State Police fire marshal was on the scene, along with responders from the PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Sandyston in New Jersey, and the Blue Ridge, Marshalls Creek, Pocono Township, and Stroud companies in Pennsylvania.

Fierce fires have claimed other residences in Lehman Township in recent years: in June 2021, when two teenagers were rescued from their burning home on Norman Court, and in November 2019, when two dogs and a kitten perished in their home off Karl Drive.
