Bulldogs gridiron season report card

LAKE HUNTINGTON, NY — The Sullivan West Bulldogs 2022 football team posted a 6-2 overall record for the season in the New York State Public High School Athletic Association’s (NYSPHSAA) Section IX 8-Man football data. The team finished undefeated, 5-0, in their division, before falling 26-12 to the Spackenkill Spartans in the November 4 playoffs.

Bulldogs gridiron season report card

LAKE HUNTINGTON, NY — The Sullivan West Bulldogs 2022 football team posted a 6-2 overall record for the season in the New York State Public High School Athletic Association’s (NYSPHSAA) Section IX 8-Man football data. The team finished undefeated, 5-0, in their division, before falling 26-12 to the Spackenkill Spartans in the November 4 playoffs.

According to the NYSPHSAA, the Bulldogs’ top performers for the season included senior QB Jaymes Buddehagen, who was ranked 11th, with 712 yards rushing; 15th, with 11 TDs; and 6th in total yards, at 1314 yards.

Rally Cruz, a junior running back/outside linebacker, had 613 yards on the turf and a total six-pack of TDs.

The year kicked off with a 28-20 victory over Pine Plains/Rhinebeck on September 9, and then took a turn for the worse on September 17 with a 20-8 loss to Pawling. 

On September 23, the Bulldogs went on a four-game winning streak, which began by defeating Eldred 14-10. That was followed by topping Fallsburg 44-19 on September 30; Ellenville 28-16 on October 7; Livingston Manor 44-0 on October 14; and on October 21, the team beat Tri-Valley, 26-6.

With the win over the Bears of Tri-Valley, the Dawgs advanced to the playoffs; only to be defeated on their home turf, 26-12, by the Spackenkill Spartans.

According to MaxPreps, the team posted a total of 696 yards passing and 1684 yards rushing, for a total of 2380 yards of a determined offense.

The Sullivan West touchdown kings of 2022 were Jaymes Buddenhagen (11), Rally Cruz (6), Andrew Hubert (3), Adam Ernst (2), Evan Ebert (1), John Bernas (1), Liam Cavanaugh (1) and Dillan Hanslmaier (1)
