Sharing the journey

HAWLEY, PA — The fourth annual Wayne/Pike Suicide Awareness Prevention and Remembrance Walk will be held on Saturday, September 16 at the Wallenpaupack Area High School. Registration will begin at 10:30 a.m.

The day will start with a short program recognizing the grief of those who lost loved ones to suicide and the walk will follow.

The event is open to the public, with free refreshments, giveaways and basket raffles. No pets will be allowed.

Together all can walk to share grief and honor loved ones, to raise suicide prevention awareness, to fight the stigma that stops people from asking for help, to raise funds for local suicide prevention programs, and to offer community educational and support programs.

All donations collected for Wayne and Pike counties stay in the counties.

People can register and donate on the day of the event or online at www.northeastsuicidepreventioninitiative.org. Click on “register” and enter Wayne or Pike County.

For more information, call Margaret Ennis at 570/253-9200 or JoAnna Van Tine at 862/210-0029.

Choices Mental Health Counseling moves to Narrowsburg

NARROWSBURG, NY — Choices Mental Health Counseling PLLC is now located at the Narrowsburg Union, 7 Erie Ave., according to Tom Rue, licensed mental health and addiction counselor.

Rue has 38 years of professional experience.

Many local agencies have determined that there is limited access to in-person counseling in western Sullivan County, he said.

“My hope is to not inconvenience or lose contact with any of my current clients due to this relocation, and to continue to receive new clients from across the area. People I currently see in person in Monticello may either continue to drive themselves to my office or rely on family or Medicaid Transportation to bring them as they currently do. For those who are seen virtually, there will be no difference,” Rue said.

He facilitates five small therapy groups per week with people aged 17 and over for relapse prevention and mental health

Rue also meets with clients throughout the day for individual psychotherapy and counseling. He is an approved provider of impaired-driver services and treatment, according to the NYS Office of Addiction and Support Services.

Rue offers in-person, virtual and hybrid group and individual therapy, and accepts MVP Healthcare, HealthFirst, Fidelis Care NY and most commercial insurances.
