WHITE LAKE, NY — The Town of Bethel passed two resolutions on April 12, providing resources for its constable department.
The town board authorized $53,734.40 for the purchase of a new constable vehicle. The town has a good fleet, said supervisor Daniel Sturm, but one car is on its way out and could do with replacement.
The board also authorized a new hire for the constables’ boat patrol.
Constables Nicholas Stackhouse and Marc Anthony crewed the boat that patrolled White Lake. Anthony was the “head guy” on the boat, and would remain so, but Stackhouse would not be available as often as in the past. The board agreed to hire Nicholas Field to replace Stackhouse when the latter is unavailable.
We need patrol on the lake without question, said Sturm.
Christy Flynn, building department clerk and a certified code enforcement officer and building inspector, asked the board for permission to attend a New York State Floodplain and Stormwater Managers Association conference, to receive certification and continuing education credits.
Board members thanked Flynn for furthering her education and for helping out the building department through code enforcement certifications and authorized her to attend the conference.
The night’s town board meeting also featured the test run of an improved video camera system.
The town is trying to upgrade its equipment, said Sturm.
The new camera system will be in place ahead of a public hearing on the town’s short-term rental law. That hearing will take place on Wednesday, April 26 at 7:45 p.m.
The Bethel Town Board introduced a local law regulating short-term rentals at its March 8 meeting; click here. for more information about the details of that law.
