Art by children is unique and true

NARROWSBURG, NY: Picasso was so successful because he knew the best and most precious art is childlike. It’s simple, yet it’s deep; it’s fragile, but resilient; innocent and misbehaving all at the same time.

On Saturday, August 3 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance will showcase the work of young local artists, aged two through 14, in the Krause Recital Hall.

Many of the pieces were created in partnership with local libraries, which hosted painting parties led by local adult artists.

Also on display will be framed prints of some of Picasso’s most childlike work, including “Le Clown” and several paintings of his daughter, Maya.

Admission to “Picasso Was Right!” is free. The event is designed to nurture young talent and provide them with the experience of an opening night.

The public is invited to join for complimentary refreshments and to see for themselves why Picasso was so fascinated with how children perceive the world.

This project is co-sponsored by the Western Sullivan Public Library, the Sunshine Hall Free Library, Delaware Valley Arts Alliance and the Barryville Area Arts Association. It is made possible with funds from the Statewide Community Regrant Program, a program of the NYS Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the NY State Legislature. It is administered by the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance.
