SULLIVAN COUNTY, NY — The Diehl Us In 4-H club was very busy over the summer. On July 16 and 17, the club hosted the local New York State Fair qualifying horse show. Over the two days, many local western and English riders showed their horses in various classes at the Diehl Me In Performance Horse Farm in Callicoon.
On August 17 to August 21, the club members brought their horses to the Grahamsville Little World’s Fair. They set up the 4-H horse barn, taught the public about their horses, and showed their horses in both the 4-H fun show and open shows.
Members also entered many different still exhibits—such as vegetables, photographs, paintings and eggs—to be judged at the fair.
Members gave their public presentations and entered their agricultural products into the 4-H youth auction.
The club ended its summer by sending members to participate in the New York State Fair in Syracuse. They represented Sullivan County well, competing individually and as a team in horse judging and hippology. Hippology is a competition that tests your horse knowledge in many different areas.
Local participants included Ryann McElroy, Sandra Hanofee, Chezzy Hanofee, Noa Denver, Roz Passante, Haley Hahn and Abbie Haff.
The junior hippology team took first place in the state!
Two Sullivan County riders, Roz Passante and Haley Hahn, showed their horses in the Western horse show. Four riders, Ryann McElroy, Noa Denver, Haley Hahn and Riley Eggleton, showed their horses in the English horse show.
All of the riders did well and had a great experience.
The members thanked their trainer, Megan Diehl Blumenthal, for all of her hard work and dedication. She makes the Diehl Us In 4-H Club a special place that they love.
