A note from the Queen

BARRYVILLE, NY — Amid all of the fuss leading up leading up to the May 19 wedding of her grandson Harry to Meghan Markle, Elizabeth Windsor—better known to the world as Elizabeth II, by the Grace of God, of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and of her other realms and territories Queen—found time to respond to the Honourable Artillery Company of North America’s birthday greetings (her 92nd) and announcement of their then upcoming St. George’s Day dinner.

Her reply on a Buckingham Palace letterhead in part reads, “Your kind words on my birthday are much valued. As your Captain-General, I send my warm good wishes to all those dining together at Barryville, New York, for a memorable and successful event.” The note is signed simply, “ELIZABETH R.”

Dinner organizer and Barryville resident Robert Robinson said the Queen’s reply is traditional, but added with a broad smile that he was very pleased to receive it.

Dinner celebrants and their guests are pictured at the May 12 dinner at the Carriage House. To view the Queen’s note, visit riverreporter.com.
