MILFORD, PA — Ilya Yakushev, an award-winning pianist and recording artist, will perform music by Beethoven, Liszt, Mussorgsky and Tchaikovsky at the Milford Theatre on May 18 at the Milford Theatre. While he is playing, a slideshow will feature Old Masters paintings that relate to each piece. The event will begin at 7:30 p.m. Tickets cost $20 at the door or $15 in advance through www.kindredspiritsarts.org. Children under 15 will be admitted free.
This concert will feature Beethoven’s Sonata No. 14 in C# minor (“Moonlight Sonata”), Tchaikovsky’s “Dumka” op. 59 in C minor, Mussorgsky’s “Pictures at an Exhibition,” and Liszt’s “Vallee d’Obermann,” No. 6. The art projected for “Pictures,” of course, will be the works by the composer’s friend Victor Hartmann that inspired Mussorgsky to create this music.
This concert is a production of Kindred Spirits Arts Programs, a not-for-profit
organization of volunteers led by internationally known cello soloist Yosif Feigelson. In addition to bringing world-class artists to northeastern Pennsylvania, the organization also arranges educational enrichment workshops for local high school students.
