Wayne County detective added to PA Task Force on Child Pornography

HONESDALE, PA — Wayne County District Attorney A.G. Howell announced today that Wayne County Detective Michael McMorrow has been appointed by the Senate of Pennsylvania to Pennsylvania’s newly formed Task Force on Child Pornography.

The Task Force on Child Pornography was established after S.B. 87 passed both the Senate and House with strong bipartisan support earlier this year and Gov. Tom Wolf signed it as Act 53 of 2021 on June 30.  The primary sponsor of S.B. 87 was Senator Lisa Baker.

The Task Force on Child Pornography's primary role is to review all laws pertaining to child pornography and to make recommendations to improve the investigation and prosecution of offenders to ensure perpetrators of these crimes are held accountable.

McMorrow has been employed as a county detective since 2016 and is currently a member of the Pennsylvania State Police Northeast Computer Crimes Task Force and the Pennsylvania Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC).

The Wayne County District Attorney's Office is an "affiliated agency" of the Pennsylvania Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force. The Pennsylvania ICAC Task Force is a collaborative effort between federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies directing their efforts towards preventing, investigating, and prosecuting the exploitation of children on the Internet.  With the ever-changing world of computer crimes, Detective McMorrow’s representation on the Task Force will strengthen law enforcement efforts, not only in Wayne County and the surrounding counties, but also now throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and surrounding states, to investigate and prosecute offenders of these crimes.
