HAWLEY, PA — Registration is open for the Run-to-Read 5K slated for Saturday, October 5. Pre-registrations for 5K competitors are being accepted at the Hawley Public Library through Friday, October 4, at the cost of $15. The registration fee costs $18 if registering on the morning of the 5K.
Rain or shine, the 5K will begin on Park Place at 9 a.m. The course will take participants along the Lackawaxen’s River Walk, up Oakland Street, around Green Gates Cemetery, and then retracing the route back to the finish line in Bingham Park. Participants will be sorted into different age groups.
All proceeds will benefit the Hawley Public Library. For more information, call the library at 570/226-4620.
NARROWSBURG, NY — On Sunday, September 29 at 10:15 a.m., Pat Sanders will present a talk about one of the most valuable communication skills: validation. Whether you’re looking to improve your relationship with your spouse, navigate difficult conversations at work, or connect on a deeper level with friends and family, this talk will cover simple, practical, proven techniques for improving any relationship in your life. The material covered is adapted from the book “I Hear You” by Michael S. Sorensen.
This one-hour service is free and open to the public. It will take place in the new home of the Upper Delaware Universalist Unitarian Fellowshop at the Narrowsburg Union, room 102.
HONESDALE, PA — Wayne Memorial Hospital is presenting a six-week grief-support session on Thursday evenings from 6 to 7 p.m. from October 1 through November 5 in conference room 4 on the second floor of the hospital.
Acknowledging that grief is a very individual process, the sessions will encourage participants to explore their own solutions to the challenges of living without their loved ones and dealing with the many changes that follow a loss.

GOSHEN, NY — Catholic Charities of Orange, Sullivan and Ulster was the grateful beneficiary of a generous donation of new school supplies, including more than 80 backpacks, from Fidelis Care to share with students in need.
Catholic Charities hosts an annual back-to-school supply drive in order to provide students and families in need with supplies to help a child achieve success in school. Donations of new backpacks and school supplies for all ages are still being collected at Catholic Charities office locations in Orange, Sullivan and Ulster counties.
