Roots & Rhythm Music and Arts Festival announces performers

HONESDALE, PA — The Roots & Rhythm Music and Arts Festival has announced the artists for its 14th annual festival.

The Black Lillies will headline the festival. They’re a band of roots-rockers known for their captivating blend of rock & roll and country. Their newest album, “Stranger To Me,” released independently last fall, debuted at #5 on the Billboard Folk/Americana Chart, #9 on the Billboard Current Country Chart and #61 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart.

The other three bands that will perform on the main stage are The Chris O’Leary Band, Roise Flores and Wayne Hancock.

This free music and arts event will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 15 in downtown Honesdale along Main Street and in Central Park. The Black Lillies is the latest headliner in a line of nationally known acts performing free of charge for this non-profit event. Visit www.honesdalerootsandrhythm.com for more information.



Unique Pathways Program presents Carrie Demers

HAWLEY, PA — The Hawley Public Library invites Carrie Demers for its Unique Pathways Program on Thursday, April 25 at 5:30 p.m. The program is free and light refreshments will be served.

Demers is a holistic physician who blends modern medicine with traditional approaches to health. She has practiced for 25 years, seeing patients, writing articles and presenting lectures to address lifestyle, stress and diet, and empowering people to explore other healing options in addition to traditional medicine.

Calkins Creamery cheese tasting

BARRYVILLE, NY — On Saturday, April 20, River Market will host Calkins Creamery for a cheese tasting from 12 noon to 2 p.m. Throughout the season, River Market will feature various local purveyors of regional products, such a cheeses, syrups, ciders, breads and more.

Main Wear Expo raises $4,000

HONESDALE, PA — About 70 people attended the annual fundraiser fashion show, Main Wear Expo, at the Cooperage Project on Honesdale’s Main Street April 7. The event, hosted by Alessandra Iavarone, who owns the Velvet Maple boutiques in Honesdale and Narrowsburg, raised about $4,000 for The Cooperage Project.

Models showcased clothing and accessories donated by A Pickers Find, Art’s for Him & Her Too, Bloom Gifts, Cat’s Pajamas, Crazy Otto’s Vintage, Fox Hill Farm, Freedlove, Gather, Great Things Boutique at the Lodge at Woodloch, Jerry Land Jewelers, Narrowsburg Proper and The Velvet Maple Lifestyle Shoppe. Hair and makeup were done by Jeannie’s Chapel Street Salon and Utopia Salon & Day Spa.



UpFront Exhibition Space to holdreception for its spring artists

PORT JERVIS, NY — On Saturday, April 20 from 6 to 9 p.m., the UpFront Exhibition Space will hold its spring artists reception. Music will be provided by DJ G. This event is free and open to the public, and the show will run through May 24.

The exhibit showcases the work of 26 artists. The Outdoor Club of Port Jervis will conduct short interviews with some of the artists to air on their weekly podcast.
