ROCK HILL, NY — Retired Fallsburg Judge Isaac Kantrowitz, who police say struck and killed two pedestrian teenagers on June 2, had three previous motor vehicle accidents in recent years.

In the most recent accident involving Kantrowitz, 86, of Woodridge, he reportedly hit the teens on Glen Wild Road. According to a Fallsburg Police accident report, Kantrowitz was also driving on Glen Wild Road on Dec. 4, 2018, when he struck a woman who suffered a back injury.

The Sullivan Times website reports that Kantrowitz was also involved in two other accidents, one on March 22, 2016, and another on April 24, 2018.

“Before the tragedy one week ago today that killed two teens and injured a third, Kantrowitz struck a shopping cart being pushed by a man (Leonard Gross) directly in front of ShopRite, collided with a vehicle (driven by Megan Fessak) on Route 42 in Fallsburg, and struck a pedestrian (Irina Prokopenko) who suffered serious injuries on Glen Wild Road in Fallsburg,” reports the website.

It did not appear that Kantrowitz was cited in any of the earlier incidents, and Prokopenko recovered from her injuries. In the latest incident, the fatalities were identified as 14-year-old Justin Finkel, and 16-year-old Devin Zeininger, who both lived in the Town of Thompson. A third youth was also injured in the accident.

Kantrowritz passed a sobriety test after the latest incident. Fallsburg Police Chief Simmie Williams has declined to publicly comment on the incidents but said the investigation is continuing.
