Garnet Health names pharmacy 340B program manager

MIDDLETOWN, NY — David Gao has taken over as pharmacy 340B program manager for Garnet Health.

The medical center implemented the 340B program in 2021; the program was created by Congress to allow qualified providers and their outpatient facilities to purchase outpatient drugs from manufacturers at discount prices. This, according to a hospital spokesman, helps uninsured and low-income patients gain access to needed medication.

Prior to joining Garnet Health Medical Center, Dr. Gao worked at NYU Langone Perlmutter Cancer Center and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and has extensive experience in the areas of sterile compounding and chemotherapeutic regimens. He has a doctor of pharmacy degree from St. John’s University College of Pharmacy and an MBA from SUNY Oswego.
