New and alternative polling locations in Wayne County

Posted

HONESDALE, PA — On Thursday, May 7, Wayne County Bureau of Elections Director Cindy Furman announced three polling place changes for the June 2 primary election this year. The changes have been made to protect vulnerable populations from COVID-19.

Dyberry Township voters will go to the Wayne County Fairgrounds to cast ballots instead of Bethany Village Senior Living Community.

Mount Pleasant Township residents will go to the Mount Pleasant Township Municipal Building rather than the Mount Pleasant Public Library.

Prompton Borough residents will be voting at the Seelyville Fire Hall in Texas Township.

Furman said that she doesn't expect any further polling place changes for the June 2 primary. The bureau has been looking into purchasing Plexiglass dividers to keep poll workers and voters separated. It has also received protection kits from the PA Department of State.

For the first year in Pennsylvania, residents can apply for a mail-in ballot without needing to provide any excuse for not voting in person.

Here's how to apply for a mail-in ballot:

  • You can apply for a mail-in ballot online at VotesPA.com/ApplyMailBallot, you’ll need a valid driver’s license to do this.
  • You can download and print out an application here and mail the completed application to your county board of elections.
  • You can call your county board of elections and request to have an application mailed to you, fill out the application and mail it back to your county board of elections.
    • Pike County residents should call 570/296-3426 to request an application.
    • Wayne County residents should call 570/253-5978 to request an application.
