On March 19, 2014 State Police at Liberty arrested Jeanette Hicks, 29, of Monticello, NY, after an investigation into the theft of unemployment insurance benefits. An investigation conducted by the New York State Police and the New York State Department of Labor determined that Hicks collected over $3,000 in unemployment insurance between 2009 and 2010 while she was in fact working for Sullivan County as a nurse's aide.
Hicks was charged with Grand Larceny in the 3rd Degree and Falsifying Business Records in the 1st Degree, felonies. She was arraigned in the Town of Fallsburg Court and released on her own recognizance.
