GLEN SPEY, NY — A standing-room only crowd of at least 350 proud parents, grandparents and loved ones were on hand to hear third through sixth graders fill the George Ross Mackenzie Elementary School gymnasium with festive sounds of the holiday season December 20. Cameras, phones and other recording devices captured the moment as the students performed and posed for photos, decked out in their holiday finery.
The winter concert program included performances by the third through sixth grade choruses, and the fifth and sixth grade bands. Musical selections ranged from the show tune, “A Million Dreams” from “The Greatest Showman” to the “Ode to Joy” to traditional holiday songs such as “Good King Wenceslas” and “The Little Drummer Boy.” The concert also included a dance routine and several solo opportunities for both vocalists and instrumentalists. Each group received thunderous applause from the appreciative audience.
More than 100 students took part in the program, which was directed by Sara Simon-Shult.
