Compressor station divergent opinion
I can’t figure out why Mr. George Billard has to deal in half-truths if his anti-compressor crusade is so self-obvious. While his claim that “no one in Highland spoke for the compressor” is partially true, the absence of a large Highland and Bethel anti-compressor contingent, 80% of the Town Board and 100% of the Town zoning and planning boards spoke volumes. We all have seen firsthand the packed houses and overflowing Town Halls when people are genuinely concerned. And I have to disagree with Mr. Billard that part of the reason for the low meeting turnout (as he said in a sponsored Facebook post) was a conflict with family dinner time.
As I said at the meeting, Billard and his friends have served up the same buffet of misinformation and disinformation as Millennium, so they shouldn’t be surprised that most people have a healthy sense of skepticism about the claims of either side of the debate.
