Last weekend I was actually home, and I said to my husband that so many people come up here on vacation, let’s pretend we are on vacation. So we started our Saturday by helping out at Two Frank’s Café at St Francis Church. We went to Skinners Falls and sat by the river, went out to dinner at the Narrowsburg Inn, where we had great burgers and wings. Sunday we got together with friends and all went to Heinle’s for their Sunday brunch, where we ate like a pig—the best Boar’s Head bacon; if you have not tried it, you are missing out. Then we took a ride to Lake Wallenpaupack and did the scenic boat ride. What a great deal; you go on a boat ride for 50 minutes and learn about the lake. Finally we ended our weekend at Pennsyltucky Pete’s where we enjoyed dinner with another Cochecton resident, Joe Crocitto. Do you see a pattern? We like to eat out on our vacations. There is really so much to do up in this area, get out and take advantage of it. I wish I owned a boat; if I did I would live on Lake Huntington. Love the water.

On Tuesday, August 5, you can still sign up for the trip to the Wayne County Fair on Wednesday, August 6 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Free admission wrist bands will be given out to Cochecton Youth.

A huge thanks to Joe Manaseri, who took care of a big bee’s nest in the pirate ship in the town park. The ship is the property of Cochecton Ambulance not the Cochecton Youth Group. Sorry for those who got stung.

I was talking to Vincent Annunziata, and he was telling me that his daughters Maureen and Elizabeth took him and his wife Sue to Italy for three weeks. They went to Rome, the Amalfi Coast, Assisi, Sienna, Florence and Lake Como. Vincent would like his daughters’ friends to know that they are up for a family reunion in July, so give them a call.

On Thursday, August 14 at 8 p.m. at Angelina's on the Hill, there will be a Woodstock 2014 party. Yazgar’s Farm, just one of the bands that will be playing at the 45th reunion of Woodstock, will be performing. Call to reserve a seat and enjoy some great food and great music.

On Saturday, August 16, the Cochecton Democrat Club is hosting a back-to-school penny social at the Nut Shell. Doors open at 6 p.m.; calling starts at 7.

I cannot believe that July 19 was the fifth anniversary of Jean Kerrigan going to heaven. Time flies.
