HONESDALE, PA — Honesdale Mayor Jack Bishop proclaimed the week of June 29 through July 5 as “Independents Week,” a time to salute and support locally owned independent businesses, because they “give back to the community in goods, services, time, and talent” and because “the health of Honesdale’s economy depends on our support of businesses owned by our friends and neighbors.” The Greater Honesdale Partnership offers these reasons to support local businesses: They help create jobs and strengthen the local economy; they build relationships and give back to the community, shape our town’s character; and they create a healthier environment.
