MILFORD, PA — Harmony Presents will host the band Gypsophilia at the Milford Theatre on Sunday, June 9 at 5 p.m. Halifax-based Gypsophilia is a group of seven young performers whose instrumental music straddles the jazz and indie-swing worlds. The band started as a Django Reinhardt tribute, but soon found itself mixing and composing gypsy jazz with klezmer, funk, classical music, swing and bebop while sweeping up international music awards and selling out shows all over the US and Canada.
Now, Harmony Presents, a local performing arts production team, showcases Gypsophilia in the historic Milford Theater at the conclusion of the Milford Music Festival. The theater has recently been restored and beautified by Jerry Beaver of the Black Bear Film Festival.
Tickets cost $17 in advance and $20 at the door. Visit www.silkmillharmony.com or call 570/588-8077.
