“We are especially thankful to the more than 200 nurses who work at WMH and WMCHC. In 2020, many of our nurses put in extra hours and took on additional duties, mostly to preserve precious personal protective equipment such as masks, gloves and gowns.”

To honor its nurses, the Wayne Memorial Nursing Administrative staff loaded up a patient stretcher with goodies and scratch-off lottery tickets to hand out to nurses on all three shifts.

UDC awards grants to clean up river and its banks

NARROWSBURG, NY — The Upper Delaware Council (UDC) voted on May 6 to award a combined $4,408.43 to the Towns of Deerpark and Lumberland through its 2021 River and Shoreline Clean-up Grants.

Since initiating the grant program in 2014, the UDC has awarded $31,932.81 to participating member municipalities as an investment of the council’s operating funds to help keep the Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River and its banks pristine.

The Town of Deerpark will focus efforts on the Hawk’s Nest area of the Upper Delaware Scenic Byway, a much-photographed winding hillside route which offers sweeping views from 200 feet above the river. The Town Highway Department will conduct three sweeps after Memorial Day, Independence Day and Labor Day to pick up debris along a 2.9-mile section to the Lumberland town line. Estimated expenses for labor, transportation, supplies and disposal fees is $3,308.43. The Town of Lumberland will hire a contractor to collect trash every other week during the summer along the town’s river banks from Camp Tel-Yehudah to the Mongaup River Access at the Deerpark border for $1,100.

The UDC solicited proposals on March 25 with an April 23 deadline. Completion deadline to request reimbursement payment is Monday, September 20.
