MONTICELLO, NY — Members of the Monticello Police have arrested four juveniles following an investigation into a serious assault incident that took place on December 18, at Osborne Street in the Village of Monticello. The victim was a 13-year-old female. The victim was shot in the right eye with a pellet pistol, which resulted in the total loss of vision in that eye. The victim was also robbed of her cellphone during the assault.
The four juveniles consisting of a 17-year-old male, a 16-year-old female, and two 13-year-old females all acting in concert were charged with the felonies of Gang Assault in the 1st degree, Assault in the 1st degree and Robbery in the 1st degree. They were additionally charged with misdemeanors for Petit Larceny and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. All of the respondents were released to a parent and issued an appearance ticket in Sullivan County Family Court.
The filing of an accusatory instrument is merely an accusation and every person who is arrested is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
