DINGMANS FERRY, PA — The Ensemble Segue will perform flamenco music and dance at the Pocono Environmental Education Center on July 16. The ensemble features violinist Sarah E. Geller, guitarist Jared Newman and dancer Eva Conti Algeria, and the program, “Ritmo, Color y Pasión,” will begin at 5:30 p.m.
Ensemble Segue performs music by composers like Manuel de Falla, Isaac Albéniz and the great Paco Peña as well as traditional flamenco songs and dances. “Having a violin playing the role of the singer is atypical of flamenco,” says Geller. “But aside from that, we don’t mix flamenco with pop or jazz. We honor traditional forms.”
Tickets cost $15 for adults; children under 12 are admitted free. The event is a production of Kindred Spirits Arts Programs, a nonprofit organization that offers concerts and music education programs in Northeastern Pennsylvania.
The Pocono Environmental Education Center (PEEC) is near Dingmans Ferry and within the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. For driving directions visit www.peec.org/directions.html.
