HULRLEYVILLE, NY — Cynthia Dolan, currently serving as a Mamakating Town Judge, has announced that she will run to become a Sullivan County Court judge. A seat on the county court bench will open when Judge Frank LaBuda retires at the end of 2019.
Dolan made the announcement at the reorganizational meeting of the Sullivan County Democratic Women’s Club and issued a press release on January 28.
Dolan has more than 20 years of legal experience in criminal, appellate and civil law and judicial experience as a sitting judge in one of the busiest
justice courts in Sullivan County. Dolan is of counsel to two law firms in the Hudson Valley and serves as corporate counsel to a small, family-owned business.
“She has personally defended cases in state and federal trial and appellate courts involving constitutional law, criminal procedure law, and intentional tort claims,” according to a press release. Dolan is also a board member of Alternatives to Incarceration and works with the Sullivan County Probation Department to provide rehabilitation and treatment options for defendants pending prosecution. For the Raise the Age legislation, Dolan was appointed an Accessible Magistrate for adolescent offenders. According to the release, she is a supporter of Sullivan County’s Drug Court program.
