‘You Can’t Be Too Careful'

SULLIVAN COUNTY, NY — The Roscoe Theatre Group presents its seventh season with its upcoming show, “You Can’t Be Too Careful,” a comedy where four retired ladies are interrupted during bridge club by a pair of bumbling bank robbers looking for a place to hide.

The show will be held at the Tennanah Lake Wolff’s 1910 Restaurant and is sponsored by the Roscoe Kiwanis Club. All proceeds go directly to Kiwanis to support the students of the Roscoe Central School District.

There will be two performances. On Saturday, November 2, doors open at 5:30 p.m. and appetizers start at 6. On Sunday, November 3, doors open at 1:30 p.m. and appetizers start at 2.

Tickets cost $35 for adults and $15 for children 12 and under. Price includes appetizers, dinner, dessert and coffee. There will be a cash bar.

Feeding families: Disney talent showcase

PORT JERVIS, NY — Foundry 42 is hosting a food drive and talent show. Performers can sign up upon arrival. Each can sing a maximum of two songs, though they must be from a Disney show.

Each audience member must bring a canned good for admission. Food will be given to local families in need.

VetStock dinner: honoring heroes

HAWLEY, PA — VetStock is once again directly benefiting veterans on Friday, November 1, with a dinner honoring a man who flew 20-plus missions in World War II and a woman who risked her life in Iraq—both highly decorated veterans.

This annual event, sponsored this year by Kahr Arms, will be “A Night of Honoring Veterans and Celebrating America.” The evening begins with a cocktail open bar at 5 p.m. and dinner at 6 p.m. Vince Benedetto, owner of Bold Gold Media, is the guest speaker and will talk on “America Today.”

TV chef at fundraising dinner

MILANVILLE, PA — TV chef and best-selling cookbook author Sara Moulton will be the keynote speaker at Bethany Public Library’s annual fundraising dinner, to be held at the Highlights Foundation’s Conference Center, “The Barn,” at 392 Boyds Mills Rd., on Sunday, November 10 from 4 to 7 p.m. Celebrated local chef Marcia Dunsmore will prepare an all-Julia Child menu to honor Moulton’s mentor.

Chair yoga

CALLICOON, NY — Every Tuesday in November at 2 p.m., certified yoga instructor Rebecca DeRosa will teach free chair yoga classes at the Delaware Free Branch of the Western Sullivan Public Library.

Chair yoga is a gentle form of yoga performed while sitting in a chair. Chairs will be provided.

A concert and a mystery: who killed LeClair?

MILFORD, PA — On Saturday, November 2, Infusion Baroque, a Montreal-based quartet featuring Baroque flute, violin, cello and harpsichord, will perform their music of and relate the strange mystery of Baroque violinist Jean-Marie LeClair’s demise. This event will take place at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, located at 110 West Catharine St., at 7:30 p.m. Tickets cost $20, $15 in advance, and children under 15 will be admitted free.

HURLEYVILLE, NY — After last year’s sold-out show, the Hurleyville Arts Centre will again welcome acclaimed storythellers Adam Wade, NPR’s Ophira Eisenberg and Peter Aguero to take the stage on Saturday, November 2 at 6:30 p.m. All three have had their tales featured by The Moth, a non-prifit dedicated to the art and craft of telling stories.

Diabetic-friendly holiday tasting

WAYMART, PA — Those with diabetes are invited to sample holiday recipes at this year’s Diabetes Taste-In. The free event will take place Sunday, November 3 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Ladore Lodge, located 287 Owego Tpk.

Registered dietitians and certified diabetes educators will be joined by vendors and businesses focused on helping people with diabetes. There will be information about nutrition, healthy snacks, heart health, stroke-and-fall prevention and more. Staff from Wayne Memorial Home Health will be on hand to check blood pressures.
