BLOOMINGBURG, NY — On Thursday August 1, the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Gang and Narcotics Intelligence Unit arrested Homer Watson, age 38, after a six-month investigation into drug trafficking in the Bloomingburg area.
Watson came onto U.S. Homeland Security Investigation’s (HSI) radar in February when he began receiving narcotics purity testing kits in the mail from Canada. Deputies arrested the suspect at his residence and seized $7,000 in cash, plus 111 grams of cocaine, 13 grams of heroin, 43 grams of marijuana, scales with packaging materials and a hydraulic press to mold powered cocaine into bricks.
The suspect, who is a Jamaican national, is also the subject of an immigration warrant. Watson was charged with the felonies of possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to sell and related charges.
He was arraigned before Town of Mamakating Judge Terrence Mullen and sent to the Sullivan County Jail without bail. He is due back in court on August 6. Deputies were assisted at the scene by U.S. Homeland Security agents.
