MIDDLETOWN, NY — The SUNY Orange Apprentice Players will present “Moonchildren,” by Michael Weller, on stage at the William and Helen Richards Theatre at Orange Hall on the Middletown campus of SUNY Orange from November 9 to 11 and 16 to 18.

Weller is best known to the general public for his screenplay adaptations of “Ragtime” and “Hair,” but made his reputation as a playwright in a trio of plays about the 1960s: “Moonchildren,” “Loose Ends” and “Fishing.” These plays depict the passionate and sometimes unfocused zeal for life that fuels college students. “Moonchildren” is a universal story, set in 1965, about eight college students on the verge of graduation who are forced to make life choices they are not well prepared to make.

Friday and Saturday performances, on November 9, 10, 16 and 17 start at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday matinees, November 11 and 18, begin at 3 p.m. There will be a talk-back with the director and cast following each Saturday performance.

Some content may not be suitable for children. Tickets cost $12 for adults; $10 for seniors, faculty/staff, and alumni; and $4 for students. Active-duty military are admitted free. Student tickets are available at the box office only. Purchase other tickets in advance online at www.sunyorange.edu (click the “Events” tab on the home page) for a $2.50 service charge per ticket.
