BETHEL, NY — The Catskill Distilling Company on Route 17B in Bethel will host the award-winning Ameranouche Gypsy Jazz Trio (www.ameranouche.com) on Friday, February 22 at 8 p.m.
Featuring two French acoustic gypsy jazz guitars and an upright bass, the group is a winner of Best of New Hampshire awards and has appeared at the Newport Jazz Festival.
A mixture of soul, flamenco, and bebop influences give the trio’s hot acoustic jazz a unique sound.
The group has issued two CDs featuring original music, much of which is inspired by legendary gypsy guitarist Django Reinhardt. In fact, its name is derived from the words: “American” and “Manouche,” Reinhardt’s gypsy tribe. New Hampshire Magazine described Ameranouche’s music as “Gypsy music tapped into an ethereal sphere, somewhere between J.S. Bach and M. C. Escher.”
Tickets cost $10. Advance tickets can be purchased online at tinyurl.com/aapzztt.
