Nine year sentence for heroin dealer passing through Sullivan

Press Release: District Attorney Jim Farrell announced today that Christopher Beach, 35, of Johnson City, N.Y. was sentenced in Sullivan County Court by Judge Frank LaBuda for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree, a class B felony, to 9 years in state prison and 3 years of post-release supervision.  Beach admitted to possessing heroin with the intent to sell it.  Farrell said that Beach was arrested after an investigation by the New York State Police on February 12, 2018 after a vehicle and traffic stop on State Route 42 in the Town of Thompson and the discovery of approximately 900 bags of heroin.

Troopers who stopped the vehicle determined that Beach was transporting the deadly drugs to Broome County for distribution and was passing through Sullivan County when he was arrested.  “The Troopers who stopped this car conducted a thorough and appropriate investigation and removed a substantial amount of heroin from our community – heroin that was destined for sale in another community.  I am thankful for all of their hard work and along with the work of my staff we have removed this individual from the community for an extended period of time.  The sentence in this case underscores my commitment to continuing to hold these drug dealers strictly to account.” Farrell said.  Chief Assistant Meagan Galligan handled this prosecution for the District Attorney.
