Wayne Garfield Gilbert

Wayne Garfield Gilbert, age 70, of Beach Lake, PA passed away on November 12, 2018.

He was born and raised on a farm in the Honesdale, PA area to Charles S. Gilbert and Doris Simmons Gilbert. He graduated from Honesdale High School in 1967 and attended Williamsport College for carpentry. He also served in the Army National Guard for eight years.

Wayne gained experience working in the carpentry field before starting his own business in the 1980s called Garfield Builders. He was a talented master craftsman who built and restored homes in Wayne County and the surrounding areas. 

Outside of his work, Wayne spent his time deer hunting, fishing, playing poker, watching old Westerns and baseball or football and attending Baltimore Orioles games. He had a witty sense of humor and was a fan of comedian Jeff Dunham.

Wayne was an experienced farmer and gardener who thoroughly enjoyed country living. More than anything, his greatest love was for his children, grandchildren and his family.

Wayne was preceded in death by his father, Charles S. Gilbert, his brother, Charles E. (Butch) Gilbert, his sister LouAnn Molling, his grandparents and several aunts and uncles.

He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Kendra (Carlo) Angione, Robyn Gilbert, Christopher Gilbert, Lacey Gilbert, his grandchildren Jack and Aril, his mother, Doris Seeley, his siblings, Cleone (Bucky) Fritz, Richard (Stefanie) Gilbert, Colleen (Steven) Gustwiller, Gary (Nancy) Gilbert, JoAnn (Rich) Neuguebauer, brother-in-law, Phil Molling, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends and family are invited for a Celebration of Life visitation from 1 to 4 p.m. on December 1 at St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church, 107 7th Street, Honesdale, PA. A memorial service will commence at 4 p.m.
