MILFORD, PA — Michael Robinson, Sr., 29, of Canadensis, was sentenced on February 15 to nine to 24 months in jail and fined $800 for the assault of a six-year-old child. Robinson previously entered a guilty plea in Pike County Court to the charges that arose out of an assault of the boy while traveling in a car on May 22, 2018.
Robinson allegedly struck the child in the face, causing injury. Upon receiving a report of suspected child abuse, a detective from the Pike County District Attorney’s Office Criminal Investigation Bureau and a caseworker from Children and Youth Services initiated a joint response the report.
The victim and two other children who witnessed the assault were taken to the Pike and Scranton Children’s Advocacy Centers for forensic interviews and medical exams. During those interviews, the children told the trained interviewer that Robinson encouraged the children to be dishonest and to not talk “about family business.” Upon completion of the investigation, within just two days, Robinson was arrested.
