YULAN, NY — The Yulan Fire Department battled a roaring structure fire on February 9 at Washington Lake. When the first responders arrived on the scene, the flames were already racing through the first and second floors and going through the roof.

According to a post on the Yulan Fire Department website, “The 40-mile-per-hour winds and 10-degree temperatures took their toll on not only the house but firefighters as well.”

The department received support from the fire departments of Highland Lake, Lumberland, White Lake, Narrowsburg, Shohola, PA, and Port Jervis.

The building was a family’s second home, and according to posts on social media, there were no injuries related to the fire.
