Sullivan tax bills are coming

Posted

MONTICELLO, NY — Sullivan County property owners usually receive their school tax bills by September 1, but this year many of the bills have not been sent yet.

According to a note sent to assessors and others on September 6, by Real Property Tax Services Director, Ed Homenick,  many of the tax bills were not available because of a problem with TelAscent.  TelAscent is a company based in Newburgh that prints and mails tax bills to a number of clients.

According to Homenick’s note, “Without going into detail, [an enployee] suddenly left TelAscent last Thursday, leaving them basically helpless. They then quickly hired [another person] on Friday [August 30] as a consultant, and he has been working there trying to restore order and get the bills printed.”

Homenick said it appears that tax bills will be going to the schools for review and approval today, Friday, and they could be sent to property owners by later today or as late as Monday.
