Mysteryland cancels Bethel Woods event

BETHEL WOODS, NY — The organizers of the Mysteryland event, which has been held at Bethel Woods at the beginning of summer for the past three years, have cancelled the event scheduled for this June.

The Mysteryland organization published a letter to fans saying, “Due to unforeseen circumstances, Mysteryland USA will no longer take place in 2017.

“Since 2014, we have strived to produce the best possible experience for our festival attendees, and are truly humbled by all of the love and support that you, the artists, the beautiful venue of Bethel Woods Center for the Arts and the Town of Bethel have shown us as we celebrated life through music, culture and art.”

Officials in the Town of Bethel have worked closely with the concert organizers, and the three-day event was welcomed by most businesses in the town. Bethel Supervisor Dan Sturm said he was told the event was cancelled because of slow ticket presales. He said the cancellation was disappointing because it was a good boost for the tourist industry in the town and county. But he said the town has a good relationship with the organizers and maybe Mysteryland will return in the future.
