An author’s talk: “A Life of Barbara Stanwyck”

CALLICOON, NY — Victoria Wilson, editor, writer, resident of Sullivan County, will talk about reading, writing, editing and publishing, and about her acclaimed biography, “A Life of Barbara Stanwyck, Steel-True 1907-1940” on Saturday, October 6 at 2 p.m. at the Delaware Free branch of the Western Sullivan Public Library. The book was described by Peter Bogdanovich as “monumental,” and Cathy Oryn of The New York Times wrote, “So readable, and as direct as its subject. I couldn’t put it down.”

Wilson was born in New York City, grew up on Martha’s Vineyard and was educated at Goddard College, Hunter College, and the New School for Social Research. She is a vice president and senior editor at Alfred Knopf Publishers. Wilson was appointed by President Bill Clinton to the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights. and has served on boards of organizations including the PEN American Center and the National Board Review of Motion Pictures
