MILFORD, PA — The Columns Museum will host a Civil War Encampment on Saturday, April 22 at 10 a.m., with participants who will travel all the way from Philadelphia. The museum has a special connection with these volunteers due to the Davis-Bailey Collection, which is housed in the museum. Abraham Davis served in the 11th Regiment Volunteer Colored Troops, Heavy Artillery Division. Abraham’s wife, Sarah Davis, applied for Abraham’s Civil War pension and used the money to purchase her family home on High Street in Milford. Four generations of her family would also live there: her daughter Phebe Bailey, granddaughter Beatrice Bailey and great-grandson Milton Bailey.
The Columns Museum exhibits a tribute to this family that includes a large selection of family photographs and memorabilia.
